Hye Camp Committee
We are looking for Camp Alumni who are interested in serving on the Camp Committee. The Camp Committee is comprised of 9-11 people who work year-round in preparation for our four weeks of Hye Camp. If you are selected to serve on the Committee, you will be appointed to a 2-year term. Although it is extremely rewarding, service on the Committee does require a lot of dedication.
Before you apply, we want to provide you with a realistic assessment of the commitment involved. Prior to submitting your application, please consider the Committee expectations listed below:
Attend all monthly Committee meetings. Meetings are usually held on Saturdays at the Diocesan headquarters in Burbank. They tend to last 4-5 hours.
Attend Family Day at Camp (usually held in April), along with any other activities that may be sponsored by the Committee.
Attend the staff training session(s) (usually held in June).
Attend opening and/or closing weekend of Camp to assist in setting up or taking down the Camp.
Attend at least one week of Camp.
Participate in an equal share of Committee tasks. We expect most tasks to be accomplished by subcommittees, working in between our regular monthly meetings.
Be available during the months of July and August to help manage the execution of the program (e.g., follow up with vendors, order supplies, manage buses, etc.).
In addition, the Diocese requires that you be a dues-paying member of your local Western Diocese parish.
We understand that this commitment is extensive, but as noted above, it is also very rewarding! If you feel that you are unable to fully commit to these expectations, we are forming an Alumni Committee which will offer opportunities to contribute to the Hye Camp program on a smaller scale. As a member of the Alumni Committee, we will ask you to take on a specific task (something you are passionate about or skilled at), and to see it through to completion.
If you would like to be considered for the Camp Committee this year:
Please email info@hyecamp.com, letting us know you are interested. Attach a short biography, detailing your experience with our Camp program (camper/staff) and any other involvement within the Armenian Church, community, and other interests. Attach a resume, outlining your work/education/volunteer experience.
Once we receive your documents, we will submit them to the Diocesan Council. They will make the final decision, and as we are notified of the newly appointed members we will let you know!
If you are not quite able to fully commit, but would like to be considered for our Alumni Committee: Please email info@hyecamp.com and express which Camp tasks you would be interested in taking on.
All submissions and documents are needed by November 12th!
If you are passionate about Camp, think you would be an asset to our Committee, and have the time to serve, please consider applying. Thank you in advance for your consideration, and for your continued support of our Hye Camp program! Please email info@hyecamp.com with any questions.
Sincerely,
Hye Camp Committee
